Everything You Need to Know
I am a professional theatre director, voice teacher and vocal coach, with a particular interest in vocal health and science. I'm Artistic Director of Red Alchemy Theatre Company and Voice Studio, Musical Director of the female vocal sextet, Alchemy and, more recently, have brought my experience and skillset to the business arena via The Voice Industry.
With over 25 years' experience crafting and training voices to create maximum impact, I can help you enhance connection and transform your vocal presence and performance. By applying my clear and practical vocal techniques, I assist business leaders as their ‘secret weapon’ in developing a more compelling, confident and authoritative presence in the workplace!
In addition to my corporate clients, I have a proven track record in contributing to the success of actors and singers: until the pandemic struck, my clients were playing leading roles on Broadway, the West End, and at major Irish venues including The Abbey and The Gate Theatres. As a theatre director and producer, I've worked with national and international casts on a range of outstanding productions at home and abroad, and have directed work to critical and commercial acclaim in New York City as well as in professional theatres all over Ireland.
An original faculty member of the first ever musical theatre degree course in Ireland, I lectured in voice, acting and music theatre history, and I continue to be active as a guest lecturer and masterclass facilitator.
My original training was in voice and piano at the Conservatory of Music & Drama and the Royal Irish Academy of Music, and I hold a first-class MA in Directing from Dublin City University. I've just completed a postgraduate Cultural and Creative Entrepreneurship programme at Trinity College, Dublin – the perfect umbrella title for my life’s enterprises – and I'm simultaneously progressing my vocal science education. I'm a member of both AOTOS and the British Voice Association, and am delighted to be serving a second year with the inspiring ladies of the Network Kilkenny committee.
Originally from Dublin, I live in the beautiful medieval city of Kilkenny with my husband, the artist John O’Donoghue, our gorgeous golden retriever, George, and two crazy rescue cats, Dot and Clarence. George and I volunteer as a Visiting Team for Irish Therapy Dogs - and love spending time every week with the service users at the Department of Psychiatry in St. Luke's Hospital, Kilkenny!
