In my private vocal practice, I've a proven track record in contributing to the success of actors and singers: until the pandemic struck, my clients were playing leading roles on Broadway, the West End, and in major Irish venues including the Abbey Theatre and the Gate Theatre. My big passions and core areas of expertise are:
Vocal Technique | Repertoire | Acting Through Song | Vocal Health and Safety | Audition Techniques |
Piano Accompaniment | Accent and Dialect | Mentoring and Confidence Building | Vocal Troubleshooting |
An original faculty member of the first ever musical theatre degree course in Ireland, I lectured in voice, acting and music theatre history, and continue to be active as a guest lecturer and masterclass facilitator. On three occasions I’ve brought Emmy and Tony Award winner Liz Callaway and Broadway composer John Bucchino to Ireland to deliver performance masterclasses, and continue to foster these relationships.
The global pandemic inspired me to create and produce a series of online music concerts – Sing For Life - performed by my vocal students – which raised almost €15,000 for the Irish Cancer Society. During this time I also created an online community initiative (Christine’s Sofa Sessions) – particularly designed to encourage the young and not-so-young members of our community to participate in online group sing-along sessions.
I originally trained in voice and piano at the Conservatory of Music & Drama and the Royal Irish Academy of Music, and hold a first-class MA in Theatre Studies (Directing) from Dublin City University. I've just completed postgraduate studies in Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurship at Trinity College, Dublin. I'm an accredited Vocal First Responder, a member of AOTOS, the British Voice Association and Network Ireland.
“Having worked with Christine over the past couple of years, I have found her to be knowledgeable and discerning regarding all things musical, with a great facility for organization and administration. She is also a delightful woman with a quick mind and ready laugh. I hope to work with her again… and again!”

Applications are now being accepted for the 2021 Red Alchemy Voice Scholarship - it's hard to believe it's that time of year already!
I was incredibly lucky to receive most of my musical education by scholarship and so, for as long as I've been teaching, I've been delighted to offer the same opportunity to others. The scholarship provides voice classes in technique and repertoire worth over 1,000 euro to the winner.
The scholarship is awarded by competitive audition and is open to anyone aged 15+ years of age. In light of current uncertainty around travel, this year's auditions will take place over Zoom. Two contrasting pieces to be sung, not exceeding more than eight minutes in total.
To apply, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org, giving details of any performance experience or training you've done (and it doesn't matter if you don't have either!)
I'm looking forward to hearing from you!
WHAT PEOPLE SAY
First Lady of Irish Musical Theatre
I’ve always loved working with Christine since we first met on ‘Aspects of Love’ back in 1997.
She’s a wonderful voice coach and it’s great to be directed by her.
Of course, it’s also fab to just sit in the auditorium and watch one of her many and varied productions: ‘The Producers’ was a particular favourite!
New York City & Ireland
Christine is the most generous director and person - I loved every second working with Christine on a production. She created the perfect relaxed, open and hard-working working atmosphere in the rehearsal room.
Christine is so multi-talented that she truly inspires creatively to all around her. Her vast knowledge of music repertoire is incredible and she leaves me feeling empowered to tackle new songs and techniques.
Anyone would be lucky to work with her.
Royal Albert Hall
Christine Scarry is a true professional and fantastic to work with. She brings her good humour and supportive nature to the room to deliver a thorough and enjoyable process.
I would recommend working with Christine without reservation, knowing the high calibre of her work.
